This was published by DC, more than a few years ago. I'd love to put together a graphic novel in this style, at some point.
I was extremely flattered to have this image included in a book called something to the affect of... "The GREATEST SUPERMAN COVERS OF ALL TIME!!". Seriously. Alongside guys like Neal Adams.
It's crazy, but why not?
Graphitti even put this on a t-shirt.

Now this is SUPERMAN! Not some armored up goob. If the character were ever done right no one would make fun of the trunks or whatever.
